Senate Members of this Congressional house must be at least 30 years old and have been a US citizen for 9 years
Executive Branch Members of this branch enforce the law, as well as proposing laws, commanding the armed forces, appointing officials, conducting foreign policy and making treaties
President (or Vice President) In order to run for this office, candidates must be a natural-born US citizen and be at least 35 years old
Cabinet This group is made up of the heads of each executive department, called secretaries (ex: Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of Education, Secretary of the Treasury, etc.). There are no specific requirements to be appointed to these offices.
Judicial Branch Members of this branch interpret the laws and the Constitution, while also reviewing lower-court decisions
District courts These courts make up the lower level of the judicial system - there are 94 of them throughout the country
Courts of Appeals These courts make up the middle level of the judicial system - there are 13 of them in the country and they decide if cases tried in lower courts were tried appropriately.
Supreme Court This is the highest court in the land - there is only one and there are 9 justices who sit on it
