Blazing the Trail to Excellence! This class is 90 minutes of English Language Arts including skills in reading, writing, spelling, and communication! Students benefit from an integrated approach through novel studies.

WHAT WE DO: Read challenging and interesting novels as a class Read interesting novels Respond in English journals (EJs) Study basic grammar, usage, and mechanics rules of language Interact in collaborative groups Practice spelling and parts of speech skills Use technology! Learn responsibility

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS ARE POSTED HERE ON THIS AGENDA. WHEN STUDENTS ARE ABSENT, THEY COPY DOWN THE ASSIGNMENTS! MAKE-UP WORK STUDENTS PICK UP PAPERS FROM THE DAY THEY MISSED HERE!

Spelling words and the forms are introduced each Monday on the overhead. The overhead transparency is available all week before the test on Friday for students who may need it. When helping your child study for spelling, you should call out the forms in addition to the regular word. Spelling lists are also posted on the class Wikispace!

READ, READ, READ!! STUDENTS SHOULD BE READING IN THEIR AR EVERY NIGHT FOR A MINIMUM OF MINUTES. AR TESTS CAN BE TAKEN BEFORE SCHOOL 7:50 A.M. -8:10 A.M. IN THE LIBRARY.
