How to have fun while cleaning up! (I know… It sounds impossible!) By: Kate Nettles This is composed of 3 steps to a spotless room and 3 tips for your convenience!
We’ve all heard our mom yell: “Clean Your Room!” Well this will help you to have as much fun as possible while obeying your mother. OVER THE YEARS, AFTER HAVING BEEN FORCED TO CLEAN MY ROOM MYSELF, I’VE DEVELOPED MY OWN STRATEGY…
Step #1 It’s best to choose music that you can sing or dance along with. Turn on some music!
Step #2 Start with the clothes and shoes. Make a pile for dirty clothes and a pile for clean clothes. Make sure these piles are out of the way. You will tend to them later. If you find shoes, throw them in the direction of where they go. If they are stored in a bin, try to make it in the bin in one toss.
Step #3 If there is anything else left, find a fun and exciting way to pick things up and put them away. For instance, you could crawl around, try to jump as far as possible every step, or make up dance moves that skim the floor for a chance to pick things up. Just try to incorporate your hobby or interests.
Tip #1 DO NOT STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once you stop for a break, you won’t want to get started again. I speak from experience! Also, do not sit or lie down, or you will quickly lose your place and you will NEVER get started again.
Tip #2 Be sure NOT to lose interest. If you feel bored or annoyed, keep yourself engaged in the song playing or just remind yourself that this should be fun! I never liked when my dad told me this, but DON’T THINK BAD THOUGHTS! Think about all the advantages of cleaning your room. Also a good way to keep yourself interested is to race against your best time or against a sibling.
Tip #3 Reward yourself when you’re done! (This is the best step!) Do something you enjoy doing or just relax. You can simply take a nap if it pleases you. Whatever you need to think about to get yourself through the cleaning. Give yourself something to look forward to!
You Will Soon Learn That Cleaning Your Room Doesn’t Always Have To Be Bad!
