Climate Characteristics> very snowy, winter’s low:-65*F, winter’s high:30*F, summer’s low:30*F, summer’s high:70*F, average precipitation: 12-33 inches Shelter Expectations> large leaves, branches\twigs, sturdy wood Concerns> fires, wild animals

Important Flora and Fauna Food Sources Native edible plants\their adaptations> pine tree\needles, berry bush\various berries, cattails\cattail shoots, hazelnut bushes\hazelnut kernel Native edible animals\their adaptations> snowshoe hare\can change their fur color, lynx\excellent eye sight, bobcat\claws, squirrels\bushy tail Threats posed by the environment> Siberian tigers, bears, lynxes, moose, bobcats How to defend yourself from the threats> keep your from these animals, keep quiet and still if in close proximity, back away slowly, avoid running away

Ecological Concerns Current> Deforestation, over logging, and the endangered Grizzly Bear Current conservation efforts> The Taiga Rescue Network prohibits logging in some areas. A Grizzly bear sanctuary has been set up to help protect them. Future conservation efforts> The hope is to stop hunters and limit public access to some forests, also to prohibit some areas where lots of trees have been cut down. Reward challenge> Climb the Rocky Mountains to reach a flag then you will receive a $250 thousand reward.

Survival needs the contestants will require Survival items for their backpacks> water bottles, matches, clothes, flashlight, first aid “Natural” renewable energy> fire, wood, animal skins, large leaves, twigs, moss

How to avoid impacting the environment? Limit the logging per group Don’t kill too many of the animals ABSOLUTELY no contact with the grizzly bear
