How to get your story out Time and space are against you Be clear, concise and compelling

Show don’t tell

Local, local, local

Make it easy to say ‘Yes’ Stop the presses! Please tell our story.

Why talking to the media is like doing crafts with a toddler: 1. You have to grab our attention and be very clear what it is you want done. 2. You need to repeat yourself until you are sure we are listening. 3. If you want the story (or the craft) to even happen, you should probably do most of the work yourself. 4. We might make a mess that you’ll have to clean up.

Practical tips Avoid jargon is best Keep it simple: Do NOT do these 5 things! Canadian spellings, good grammar Timing is everything Questions ?
