Oh Me Seamus & Captain Corey’s Transportation Solutions 04/ _clip_art_transportation.gif

 Maglev (short for “Magnetic Levitation”) trains would be a cost- effective solution for transporting people  It’s more economical than conventional trains and airplanes Maglev Trains

 Very quiet compared to conventional trains and are less expensive to build  Take up less land since they are elevated which also prevents collisions with cars and does not cause traffic jams  Use far less energy than other modes of transportation and do not pollute  They are much faster than conventional trains and metro trains due to the fact that they float above the track which eliminates rolling resistance  They require less maintenance because they don’t wear since they float above the trackAdvantages

 Costs about $10M/mile for building tracks  The cost for tracks for a conventional high speed train is projected to be almost $13.5B for 165 miles which is about $82M/mile  Maglev trains can almost reach 300 mph while a “bullet train” has a top speed of 220 mph  Air travel costs about 13 cents per mile for passengers compared to 4 cents per passenger mile for maglev trains  A trip would be shorter by maglev train than airplane due to no delays because of weather and stations would be faster than airports (TSA), Costs Compared to Conventional Trains and Air Travel
