Activity from the Cook unit © upd8 wikid, built by cracking science This page may have been changed from the original Instructions This animation gallery contains particles, ice-cream, buttons, logos and many other graphics. Use them to explain how the machine makes instant ice cream. When a customer presses the flavour button, here’s what it does: Stage 1: It squirts the flavour particles into the liquid ice cream and mixes all the particles together Stage 2: It cools the mixture. As the temperature lowers, the mixture turns from liquid into solid. Finally, the machine delivers a scoop of ice-cream. What to do 1 Sketch your explanation first on paper. Think about the stages you need to show. 2 Turn the storyboard into an animation Using the animation functions of PowerPoint ■ Copy and paste objects to position them on the screen ■ Move particles across the screen using ‘motion paths’ (‘custom animation’) ■ Use ‘transitions’ between slides to show the passing of time ■ Use the ‘advanced timeline’ (‘custom animation’) to decide which order things move Careers activity, also part of the upd8 wikid course, built by cracking science Instant ice-cream Crown Copyright 2009
