*School Hours: 7:50 a.m. – 2:50 p.m. *It is essential that all students report to school no later than 7:30 a.m. if they plan to eat breakfast. *Instruction starts at 7:50 a.m. If students report to school after 7:50 a.m., parents must accompany them to the school office for a tardy slip before they can be admitted to class. *Students who arrive after 11:20 a.m. or who check out prior to 11:20 a.m. will be counted absent. *You may walk your child directly to the classroom on Thursday and Friday, but you will need a visitor’s pass. Parents should not walk students to the classroom beginning Monday, August 11.

*The school building does not open until 7:15 a.m. Please do not drop off students before this time. Students are not allowed to wait outside of the building. *Car riders dropped off between 7:15 and 7:30 will go directly to the cafeteria and be dismissed to their classrooms at 7:30. *Car riders dropped off after 7:30 a.m. will go directly to their classrooms, unless they are eating breakfast. *Note: Car Rider Procedures will be handed out by your classroom teacher. Please read and follow them carefully. Be patient during the first weeks as we help students adjust.

*Parents are asked not to check students out after 2:30 p.m. *Should a parent send another person to pick up his/her child(ren), written authorization from the parent is required. These individuals must be listed on the child’s check out list in the office. *Car rider signs must be posted in the front windshield, or you will be asked to park and come to the front office to check out your child. *Any changes in dismissal for children must be in writing and must be submitted before 2:00 p.m. Telephone calls and s will not be accepted. Please be prepared to show photo identification when checking out a child from school.

*If your child is absent for any reason, please send in a signed and dated written excuse within 3 days. Valid excused absence reasons are listed in the Shelby County Code of Conduct. *Change of Transportation notes are located in the front office and on our school website. Please send these notes in on Monday, if at all possible. Remember, changes must be signed by the custodial parent to be accepted. *If the school has to close early or start late, a notice will be sent out on Blackboard Connect and our school’s listserv. If your child attends After School Care, they will be considered a car rider. *You should have signed up for Blackboard Connect and listserv at Registration Confirmation.

*When a student’s lunch balance reaches $5.00, a note will be sent home from the IES cafeteria. *Please send lunch money to school in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, teacher’s name, and your child’s lunch # written on the outside. *Please make all checks payable to Inverness Elementary School and include the student’s lunch #. *You may also utilize to add and check your child’s balance. You will need your child’s student number to access My Lunch Money. Contact Mrs. Philpott for this information.

At any time, if you would like to schedule another conference, contact the classroom teacher directly 1-2 days in advance of the conference. *IES will Parent News each Friday on our school’s listserv and send home a monthly “Inverness Elementary Spotlight” newsletter. *Classroom teachers will communicate, at least weekly, through the green or red folder.
