Stenhousemuir CC 5 Year club development plan 2010 to 2014

Objectives To set out main club objectives in terms of:- Players. Junior Section- how to develop. Club Facilities. Training:- standard of training and Enjoyment!! Goals for the future.

Players Over the last 10 years Stenhousemuir CC has seen the average age of club players increase, to the extent that we are an aging club, with few Juniors coming through. We must recruit some senior players 25 to 35 years old, these players will enhance the youngsters coming through. Giving them vital experience. Senior players must be encouraged to join the club pointing out our History and club facilities at there disposal, Superb playing surface and practice facilities.

Junior Section Over last 5 years junior section has grown steadily up to approx 50 juniors each year. Over last couple of years junior section has plateau out. Need to take Junior section to next level, by:- Looking to employee new Full time club coach. Existing club coaches to do more advanced coaching certificates to improve there technical knowledge.

Junior Section More players at club level to begin coaching, through introduction to coaching basics, then on to level 1 etc, giving club more choices of coaches and thus being able to do more 1 to 1 coaching with the more promising youngsters. Number for juniors have helped sessions and expressed wish to do coaching courses. Selection of Club Professional to be more based on club coaching than just a player. A more structured layout of coaching in the club throughout the year, with both Session plans and individual plans being planned by New club coach and professional together.

Junior Section Attend as many Quick cricket tournaments as club can, with emphasis on entering 2 teams where possible, this requires more input from the families of juniors to be successful. From Quick cricket tournaments identifying players ready to start hardball training, we have in the past been slow to identify hardball players leaving them till 12 years old, need to identify that players can be under 10 and are looking to play hardball cricket. Organise 8 per side hardball cricket at under 11’s level with the emphasis on enjoyment and all players being involved batting, bowling and fielding, example different players each week to try out Wicket keeper position. ;

Junior Section Ensure each Season we are able to enter teams into all age groups for all competitions i.e. Scottish Cup and local cups. Ensure each year we have adequate age group matches at all levels to ensure our junior players are competitive, learning game skills and enjoyment of playing games. Have a structure for the youngsters to come through the club with clear progression:- i.e. Quick cricket under 11’s hardball onto under 13’s/ 15’s then 30 over per side Sunday Forth Valley leading into 1 st and 2 nd XI Saturday matches.

Club Facilities Maintain the standard of wickets, in few of Willie Duffy’s impending retirement recruit new groundsman of similar or better standard!! Re-instate former practice wickets back to a standard that they can once again be used for practices/ training aid. Improve our all weather facilities extending existing plinth, new artificial surfaces on top and new netting bays. Applying to funding sources to all us to improve training aids, junior section equipment i.e. Professional bowling machine, crazy catch, new bats, helmets (right size) pads etc for Juniors.

Club Facilities Looking to get New:- Covers Side screens New score box need in next 2 to 3 years, major outlay needed. Major re-decoration/ replacement of boundary seats and batting bays required.

Training Over the past few years club training/ numbers has slowly declined for Senior training on Tuesdays/ Thursdays this need to be addressed encouraging the youngsters to come along to these sessions. Traditionally Tuesdays where 2 nd XI and Thursdays 1 st XI Players will now mix on both Tuesdays and Thursdays with an emphasis on individual technical work and team bonding sessions incorporating fielding drills.

Training Club Senior training nights will now involve several actives going on at once with major coaching being supplied by Club coach, club professional, overseas amateur and existing club coaches. Training will now involve:- 1 to 1 batting coaching in both practice grass nets and new artificial surface using throw downs and bowling machine, emphasis on batting techniques and new shot progression. Bowling technique/ analysis, on practice wickets supplied out on the middle, this will concentrate on run ups and looking at bowlers learning more technical information i.e. how to swing, importance of length control, bowling variations. Club wicket keepers will be closely used and involved in his activities

Training All Senior training nights to start with and finish with Team training i.e. team warm ups and finishing with team fielding drills/ mini games for enjoyment. During Senior training nights small groups 2 to 4 players taken out and give group fielding drills to be used to improve both players fielding abilities and general fitness work, these sessions will be short sharp 10 to 15 minute drills. Feedback to be sought from all players about there level of enjoyment and if they are achieving what they expected for these sessions.

Goals for the future. Long term survival of Stenhousemuir CC as a major player in Scottish cricket. Playing in the top leagues both SCNL and East League. Provide a competitive team on the park, with a blend of local youngsters backed up with some imported senior players. Improvement of Club facilities to be able to attract new talent. All Club players to enjoy club atmosphere and each player to make improvements to there game year on year.
