Presentation transcript:

Family Literacy Night: November 21, 2013 Kiosk Show by Mrs. van den Akker

Family Literacy The Family Literacy Committee is a small but dedicated group of staff who hold 3-4 events a year. A typical night includes each student getting to pick a book of their own to keep, a staff guided read aloud, a matching activity, and refreshments, all at no cost to the participants. The events do many things to benefit the community. They help children start and build a personal library. Parents and staff get to mingle and share in a relaxed setting, sharing time and building bonds. The staff modeled activities and read aloud allows parents to see and learn about current best practices to further their students reading abilities. They are great fun for all who attend!

Special Thanks goes out to: Ms. Moffatt Dr. Medina Ms. Arlequin Mrs. Gall Mrs. van den Akker Custodial Staff Students and Parents who attended
