Wednesday – May 14, 2014 Mr. Lombardi Do Now: List and explain different ways that you can make money. Be specific and appropriate! Aim: How did the Native Americans respond to European colonists?

European Nations Settle in North America 1.England, France, and the Netherlands established colonies in North America (similar to Spain in Central & South America). 2.The goal of each European nation was to create an empire by establishing a favorable balance of trade with its colonies in order to increase its own wealth and power. 3.Native Americans and English settlers had disputes over land and religion. 4.The Native American population began to rapidly decrease.

Results of European Nations Settling in North America… Once European nations began to arrive in North America, they would compete for control over valuable land. The Native Americans living on the land would suffer greatly from the European struggle for North America… Why would the Native Americans suffer from European exploration of North America?

The French and Indian War Should be called, “The English vs. French (with Native Americans) War”
