Solving Inequalities by Multiplying & Dividing

8 > 5 What happens if I multiply by sides by 3? What happens if I multiplied by sides by -3?

Multiplication Property of Inequalities If both sides are multiplied by the same positive number, the inequality stays the same. If both sides are multiplied by the same negative number, the inequality switches.

Solve:

12 < 20 What happens if I divide both sides by 4? What happens if I divide both sides by -4?

Division Property of Inequalities If both sides are divided by the same positive number, the inequality stays the same. If both sides are divided by the same negative number, the inequality switches.
