What is an ecosystem? All the living and non- living things that interact in an area.

Example of an ecosystem

What is a habitat ? A place where an organism lives and that provides the things it needs to survive.

This is an example of a habitat

What are biotic factors? A living part of an ecosystem.

Example of a biotic factor

What are abiotic factors? A non-living part of an ecosystem.

Example of an abiotic factor

List 5 things abiotic factors to which organisms respond? Water Soil Sunlight Oxygen Temperature

Example of 5 abiotic factors

What are producers? An organism that makes its own food.

Example of a producer

What are consumers? An organism that obtains energy by feeding on other organisms.

What are herbivores? An animal that eats only plants.

Example

What are carnivores? An animal that eats only animals.

Example

What are omnivores? An animal that eats both plants and animals.

Example

What are decomposers An organism that breaks down the large molecules from waste and the remains of dead organisms into small molecules and return the important materials to the soil and water.

Example

What is a food chain? The series of events in which one organism eats another, resulting in a flow of energy among the organisms involved.

Food chain

What is food web The pattern of overlapping food chains in an ecosystem.

Example
