Type MA and press Enter

Mergers and Acquisitions Overview

Click 96) Advanced Search

Click 11) Date Range

Change Date Range to Custom

Change Start Date to 2009

Click Announced Date

Click 1) Update

Click 1) Results

Shows summary of all mergers within that period

Click 25) Deal List

Shows List of Deals

Acquisitions: Target and Acquirer Names

Divestitures: Target, Acquirer and Seller Names

Click on 99) Edit Columns

Use this to add variables

Click Price Valuation Ratios

Click Target Price/EBITDA

Click Description

Click Acquirer Ticker

Click Target Ticker

Click 1) Update

Click 98) Output -> Excel

Wait for download to complete

From Windows Menu Click Install Excel Add-In

Press Install

Click OK

Click Microsoft Excel 2010

Need to include the word Equity in Ticker Name

Add Equation =J2&” Equity”

Copy cell and paste for all companies

Can now use Ticker to look up data

File -> Save As -> 07b-datacompleted.xlsx

Challenge Download data on any mergers which took place between 2007 and 2009 Obtain the Ticker symbol for each company
