Personal Development Strategies: Incentives towards becoming more actively involved in training Pauline Jacobs Senior Childminding Network Co-ordinator Surrey Childminding Networks

Surrey has 4 early years approved childminding networks covering all 11 boroughs in Surrey. One full time and four part time co-ordinators. There are 140 network childminders in Surrey out of a total of 1,950 registered childminders. The networks are currently full and have a waiting list.

Our training programme which consists of a series of - conferences - seminars - workshops help childminders maintain and improve their professional competence.

What do we do in Surrey to encourage personal professional development? BOGOF(buy one, get one free) Childminding free training places Training bursaries Evening and weekend training Supply Cover

Childminding training analysis Childminders were consulted about their requirements for workshop training in the coming two years ( ). The most frequently requested training course for childminders was Birth to Three (29%). 14% of childminders responding indicated that they would like special needs training, including Makaton and Speech and language, food hygiene and behaviour workshops. Training to help them run a successful childminding business and ‘inspection preparation’ workshops and IT training.
