Surrender To stop resisting to an enemy or opponent and submit to their authority. To yield or submit to a more powerful influence. To give up or hand over (a person, right, or possession)... To surrender in spiritual or religious terms means that a believer completely gives up their own will, and subjects their thoughts, attitudes, values and behaviours to the will and teachings of a higher power.

The Apostle Paul wrote: 12 Sin must no longer rule in your mortal bodies, so that you obey the desires of your natural self. Nor must you surrender any part of yourselves to sin to be used for wicked purposes. Instead, give yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life, and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes. (Romans 6- GNB)

All to Jesus I surrender; I surrender all, All to Him I freely give; I surrender all; I will ever love and trust Him, All to Thee, my blessed Saviour, In His presence daily live. I surrender all. All to Jesus I surrender; Humbly at His feet I bow, Worldly pleasures all forsaken; Take me, Jesus, take me now. All to Jesus I surrender; Make me, Saviour, wholly Thine; Let me feel the Holy Spirit, Truly know that Thou art mine. All to Jesus I surrender; Lord, I give myself to Thee; Fill me with Thy love and power; Let Thy blessing fall on me. All to Jesus I surrender; Now I feel the sacred flame. Oh, the joy of full salvation! Glory, glory, to His Name!

34 Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. 35 If you try to hang on to [save] your life, you will lose it. But if you give up [lose] your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News [Gospel], you will save it. 36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul [life, self]? 37 Is anything worth more than your soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” (Mark 8 – NLT) 36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?

What do we need to surrender to God today? ambitions, hopes, plans, dreams pleasures, power, possessions, people work and interests selfish & sinful involvements Not to give them up or away necessarily but to give them over to God and to give all our life & lifetime to God and God’s purposes
