Arithmetic Sequence  An arithmetic sequence is a set of numbers where the difference is constant.  Common difference: the difference between the numbers of an arithmetic sequence.  Arithmetic mean: the average of 2 numbers.

a n = a 1 + (n – 1)d for n > 1 You must know how to identify if a sequence is arithmetic.

An Arithmetic Series is a series whose terms form an arithmetic sequence. When a series is finite, it has a sum.

The Greek letter, sigma, is used to signify a sum.

If the explicit formula is linear, then the series is arithmetic, and the slope is the common difference between the terms.
