1. INTRODUCTION This chapter is based on the results of the investigation: “Teaching practices of university teachers analyzed from the perspective of the impact of technologies on knowledge" in the framework of "A New Agenda for Didactics" Faculty of Philosophy and Letters University of Buenos Aires

2. REASONS 1. Simulation software in biomedical sciences 2. Virtual tutorials 3. Virtual communities for collaborative projects 4. Use of internet networks for teaching

2. REASONS 5. Searching information on internet: - papers - academic articles - virtual libraries

2. REASONS 6.Use of technological tools: - - chat - social groups - blogs - thematic forums - webpages - electronic journals - interactive museums - portfolios

3. TIME Virtual: ephemeral, fleeting, timeless, simultaneous, immeasurable, unpredictable Real: slower, measurable, predictable Challenge: use technological resources marked by speed, but allowing the student time to build reflection and critical thinking.

4. SPACE VIRTUAL: ilimited, borderless, global PHISICAL: limited CHALLENGE: the notion of virtual environment poses the challenge of thinking in spatial learning beyond the classroom walls.

5. KNOWLEDGE INFORMATION ≠ KNOWLEDGE INFORMATION: a collection of unrelated facts, numbers or data KNOWLEDGE: the result of cognitive activity necessary to transform, contextualize and select relevant information in an idiosyncratic way, within the framework of disciplines or professional practices, which make them meaningful

5. KNOWLEDGE EXCESS OF INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET CHALLENGE: develop categories and criteria for selecting relevant information concerning each specific discipline
