Imperial College staff and students work all around the world –Fieldwork in all types of locations –Collaborative work in other institutions –Industrial placements –Medical electives –Meetings and conferences The College has a Duty of Care –Hazards need to be identified –Risks need to be managed –Standards need to be set –People need to be informed, trained and supervised

© Imperial College LondonPage 6 Responsibilities and Functions Heads of Department –Ensure Person-in-Charge is competent –Ensure risk assessment has been completed –Approve certain activities –Appoint Offsite Coordinator where appropriate Person-in-Charge –Must be competent to manage the activities –Ensure risk assessments are completed before work commences –Ensure all involved are provided with appropriate information and training –Provide information to Department before leaving –Report all accidents Offsite Coordinator –Advise Head of Department –Act as College point of contact

Which countries have they visited? Which other institutions have they worked in? What is the longest anyone has been away? And where? Who is your Offsite Coordinator? Update report at SHRUG meeting in December
