W HAT P ART OF ATOMS ARE AFFECTED ? The part of atom that is affected is the electron, because it is the outer layer. C HEMICAL R EACTION What is happening is that it’s a pathway by which two substances bond together. But atoms like to have full valence shells a single H or O. The Law of Conservation mass is neither created nor destroyed. It also the total mass of the reactants is equal to the total mass of the products of a chemical reaction. Three signs of a chemical reaction is color change, heat/temperature, and bubbles.

E NERGY AND CHEMICAL REACTIONS What happens is that there is energy that exchanges to the other side. When the chemical bond is release it breaks and energy is released. But when the bond is formed energy is stored. The energy can be released as heat. Potential energy is the energy possessed by a raised weight. Exothermic gets colder and Endothermic gets hotter. We did a project and put yeast in hydrogen proxide.

T YPE OF CHEMICAL R EACTION There is about six types of chemical reactions; combustion, synthesis, decomposition, Single replacement, double replacement, Acid-base. Some examples of Chemical reactions is == Are solids, liquids, And gases. What is happening during a Synthesis reaction is when two substances come together. A example is like a skinny person plus food equals a fat person. Decomposition breaks down the substance instead of forming them together. A example is how it releases energy. Combustion is molecules and oxygen combine together. A example is when Butane is burned with dry air at a mass based air to fuel ratio of 20 to cause a reaction. A single replacement is when a cation switches with a anion
