Passenger Activity Locations and Peer Review Major Passenger Activity Locations  Broad Avenue Terminal  Weekday averages: 1,500 boardings and 1,400 alightings  42 percent of all trip ends system-wide  GTCC High Point, GTCC Jamestown, Guilford County Complex, Walmart South Peer Review  Considered cost effectiveness, productivity, service characteristics, and investments  Operating cost per passenger below peer average  Subsidy per rider is below peer average  Farebox recovery is above peer average  High Point ranks near the top of peer group for passengers per revenue hour  High Point is slightly above operating cost per capita peer average

Public Involvement Summary On-board ridership survey was administered in September 2013 Questions regarding:  Riders’ trip characteristics  Ridership habits  Demographic information  Recommendations for improvements Results  Most users are traveling between home and work (home-based work)  65% said the bus was their only option  54% indicated they been using Hi-Tran for at least three years  74% of respondents had household incomes of less than $15,000

FTA Programs Overview Section 5307 – Urbanized Area Formula Grants  Grants for capital, planning, JARC projects  Operating expenses (special circumstances)  Funding  80% federal share with required 20% local match for capital  50% federal share with required 50% local match for operating Section 5339 – Bus and Bus Facilities  Capital funding to replace, rehabilitate, and purchase buses and related equipment  Construct bus-related facilities  Funding  80% federal share with required 20% local match

Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) Goal: Improving the Nation’s air quality and managing traffic congestion  Attain national ambient air quality standards Eligible Activities:  Transit system capital expansion and improvements  Travel demand management strategies  Shared ride services  Pedestrian and bicycle facilities and promotional activities CMAQ funds may be used in conjunction with local match funds for Section 5307 grants
