Presentation transcript:

Biodiversity - the variety of life on Earth - makes our planet livable and beautiful.

Biodiversity is all around us and we are part of it. There are three main elements:  different kinds of living things on Earth - including animals, plants, vegetables, fungi, algae, bacteria and even viruses. Scientists have registered the presence of about 1.9 million different living organisms on Earth, but it is certain that the real number could be much higher.

 94 species of mammals  383 species of birds  36 species of reptiles  16 species of amphibians  207 types of fish  About species of insects and other invertebrates  Between и species of plants  More than 500 species of lower plants and mushrooms

Biodiversity result from 3.8 billion years of evolution, is extremely important for human survival. We rely on nature for many basic resources, including food, building materials, warmth, textiles or active ingredients in medicines.

 Loss and degradation of terrestrial and aquatic habitats – alpine forests and lakes, open water areas and benthic fish communities.  Pollution of air, soil, groundwater, drinking water and coastal waters.  Pollution - residential, agricultural, oil, industrial, radioactive.

 practical things that you can do every day.  using sustainable techniques in your garden.  support studies by observing and describing wildlife and ecosystems.

How I can protect the biodiversity in my country?

AIR POLLUTION We should stop air pollution! Saving the air is important because it can cause global warming so it will effect everyone.

 Not to spoil  To clean up  To signal the institutions  To gather waste separately  To use for Christmas live Christmas tree in pot  To plant a tree  Not to kill an animal  Not to gather protected plants  To save a wild animal  To adopt an animal from a zoo  To use a bicycle  To use solar panels  To grow plants at home  Not to cut down a tree in the forest

 To teach people around me of what I know  To become a biologist  To become gene engineer  To participate in expeditions And when it comes to think it over yet a lot of other things
