CURRENT SITUATION Schools don’t have the land for an organic community garden Students want to eat healthy, but don’t have access to organic, local foods Teachers and administrators lack the tools and resources for food literacy and education

FUTURE OPPORTUNITY: TOMATERO Design a garden-to-kitchen app that is educational and fun for students Teaches kids to grow their own tomato plant Rewards them to care, water, fertilize, and share photos with their classmates Fosters a sense of ownership and appreciation of growing seasonal, fresh produce Inspires curiosity to prepare and eat seasonal ingredients at home with their family

RESOURCES & NEEDS Need: iOS app developer Involve/Resources: Teacher who can develop a gardening manual and tie it in with a K-3 education curriculum Designer with experience and knowledge in creating educational apps A local school who is willing to pilot the app Funds Budget to develop the iOS app ( hours, ~$68,000*) Sponsor (buy tomato plants for classroom, purchase app for students) *Calculation from OpenXcell, assuming a “complex” app build
