 Task Definition Define the Problem: Ask yourself –What is my assignment? –What information is needed to complete my assignment? –What key words can I use to find information? –Am I using the required resources to find my information?

 Information Seeking Strategies Determine All Possible Sources –Create a list of possible sources: dictionary, encyclopedia, atlas, Cobb’s Online Resources, etc.

 Location & Access Use the Index of books and encyclopedias Find nonfiction books using Dewey Decimal System (Online Catalog) Find specialized encyclopedias Look up locations on maps Cobb’s Online Resources

 Use of Information Listen to Directions Take Notes: Do Not Copy Watch Weather Reports Trace Maps Read Magazine & Newspaper Articles –Cobb’s Online Resources

 Synthesis Put dates & events in the right order Organize pictures so they make sense Prepare a sketch (city/town, ship, etc.)
