Inuit By Carson And Maddy

Food The Inuit people eat fish, sea mammals, and seals. The Inuit hunt seal when the ocean is frozen in the summer time. Caribou are hunted in the summer for meat so they don’t eat seals all the time.

Location The people lived in the cold for thousands of years. They lived in Greenland and Canada. And live in Canada, Greenland, United States, and Russia to this day. The Inuit people lived in land of cold harsh winters and in short cool summers.

Tools The Inuit people used tools for many different things One of there tools were the bow drill. They use the bow drill to carve out cases and holders. They used three kinds of knifes. Wood, bone, and ivory.

Clothing The Inuit only wear animal fur for the bad winters. Inuit wear boots called kamiks they are made from sealskin, and they are also used for hunting They use fur from seals and polar bear. And they turn their fur into Kamiks and atiqik.

Weapons The bola was one of their weapons used for hunting. They made it from bone and sinew. Inuit people used these weapons spears, fishing rods, bow and arrows, and knives. They used all of these weapons to hunt for their prey

Transportation They use three types of transportation. Dogsleds, umiak, and kayak. They wear special clothing for dogsled and the special clothing is Atiqik. The umiak large and more open than the kayak. It is meant to carry large loads.

Shelter In the winter time the people used igloos for homes. And in the summer time they used tents made of animal skins. It took them an hour to build the houses for their family’s.

Language The Inuit speak Inuktitut. Most of the words are pronounced like ka. We know how to say “will the weather be good today” and you pronounce it like "see- la-ss-aang-un-ee-aa-pa?” A lot of their words are hard to pronounce, but some of them are easy like yes means Ii.

What contributions have they made to this day They hunted back then and we hunt now. Some people still use dog sleds. To this day some people do use canoes and kayaks.
