In this presentation, we will address the following…  What virtual worlds are, how they work, and the origin  Common uses and authentic applications for virtual worlds  Components of virtual worlds that can be utilized in conjunction with today’s best educational practices  The impact that educational technology has on virtual worlds and vice versa  The benefits versus barriers of virtual worlds

What is a virtual world? How does a virtual world work? How did virtual worlds come to fruition? Personalized Avatars complete tasks for rewards A world at your fingertips… Cinematographers sought to stimulate the sense and make people experience different places without leaving the room

This slide will contain a graphical representation to display the most common uses for virtual worlds. I will use a microphone to state various authentic applications as they appear as bullets. The information contained in this slide will be based on one of my annotated references.

 In this slide, I will include a video clip that navigates a virtual world. The video clip will have no sound. I will use a microphone to record my voice, restating what a virtual world is and highlighting different components of virtual worlds as seen in the video clip. I will discuss how the virtual world ties in with best practices and authentic applications as supported by one of my annotated references.

 This slide will include a (narrated) video clip that discusses how the integration of educational technology impacts virtual worlds and the impact that virtual worlds have on educational technology. The information contained in the video clip will be supported by one of my annotated references.

 This slide includes a critique of virtual worlds in terms of advantages/strengths and weaknesses/barriers. I will use a microphone to record my voice stating those critiques. The information contained on this slide will be supported by one of my annotated references.

 This slide will give an overview of the of the presentation. I will briefly restate what a virtual world is, its authentic applications, and advantages and disadvantages. I will state a question or statement that stimulates further thought about virtual worlds.
