Capacity Building. Training courses have been organised at block and Nayaya Panchayat level by Panchayati raj and Basic Education Department Teachers are trained for MDM scheme at Block level. Orientation programme and refresher training programmes have been organised with the help of UNICEF NGO representative have also been trained for MDM. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
Best Practices. Chief Secretary has formed district and block level task forces under the leadership of DM and SDM respectively for frequent and effective supervision of MDM scheme. I.V.R.S. system has been introduced to supervise daily the MDM scheme. The government has facilitated availability of cooking Gas cylinders and equipments. Best Practices. Mata Abhibhavak Sangh has been constituted for supervision of day to day cooking at the school level. In order to promote Women welfare the state has introduced Mahila Samakhya in 15 blocks in some specified schools to provide hot cooked meal in place of gram pradhan “Aashirwad school Health Programme conducted by health department under NRHM. Evaluation Studies Studies were conducted by 4 Institute i.e. Giri Institute, BHU, Lucknow University and Gorakhpur University The Major findings are: Positive response from student (72%) in rural areas regarding quantity of food provided to them. The proportions of ingredients are not being maintained and as a result quality of food suffers Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
Evaluation Studies Schools have been given adequate funds to posses necessary infrastucture. MDM is effective in increasing enrolment in schools reduced dropout rates and increased overall attendance. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India

: Foodgrains Foodgrains were available with the implementing agency in Aligarh, Jalaun, and SRN. Foodgains was not available in primary school Akbarpur in Ikauna block of district Shravasti, and in Chiranjivi vikas sansthan (NGO) in Aligarh. During 4 th qtr the allocation was made for only 1 month in district Shravasti. 50
Foodgrains contd… In Aligarh FCI is supplying common grade rice for MDM instead of FAQ rice. The quality of foodgrains with Asharfi Gramodyog Sansthan (NGO), Charra, Aligarh is engaged to served MDM in Rural aeras. The quality of food served by NGO was not of good quality and no records was available at the time of the visit.
: Cooking Cost Cooking cost was Rs Rs in primary up to November – December, 2010 in Shravasti district. 53
: Payment to FCI Payment to FCI by districts is satisfactory except Shravasti where 80% payment has been made to FCI. In Aligarh FCI has received payment from the district within the given time frame. 54
: Kitchen cum Store and Kitchen Devices Kitchen shed was sanctioned in 3 schools out of 4 schools visited in Aligarh. Kitchen devices were procured in all schools, however the available devices were not enough for preparation of sufficient quantity of MDM in some of the visited schools in district -Shravasti and Aligarh. 55
: Monitoring and Supervision Poor monitoring at all levels in all the visited districts. Under IVRS the calls are not being made as per the prescribed time schedule and problem in registration of the numbers. District Task Force meetings are not held regularly in visited district particularly Shravasti. 56
School Health Programme Very low convergence with school health programme of NRHM. Health cards were not available in visited districts except district Jalaun. Micro nutrients, IFA tablets and De-worming tablets were not distributed to the children except Aligarh. 57
