Just write the simile Example: as clear as mud  The geometry test was as clear as mud. As big as a busAs busy as a beeAs brave as a lion As blind as a batAs bright as the sunAs cold as ice As cute as a cupcakeAs dull as dishwaterAs free as a bird As happy as a clownAs hungry as a bearAs tall as a giraffe 33

Today’s objective is to create, understand and analyze similes. 33

The geometry test was as clear as mud. 33

The geometry test was as clear as mud.

The simile is comparing the geometry test and mud. Mud is not clear and cannot be seen through. The geometry test was difficult and hard to understand. Saying that the geometry test was as clear as mud is saying that the geometry test was unclear. Identify the two parts of the simile. Explain what each part of the simile actually means. Explain what is actually meant by the use of the figurative language. 34

Odyssey Example Find an example in the Odyssey and copy it down. Be sure to cite the line and book number. Draw a literal picture of the simile. Write a paragraph analysis.

Homework and Reflection Complete the reflection on the bottom of your organizer. 33
