Mission and Goals
The mission of the Richland Science Team is: To provide monthly standards based science lessons that engage students in memorable learning experiences as well as promote communication and collaboration among all students. To engage students in all three fields of science and the use of appropriate technology, engineering, and mathematical content in partnership with parents, teachers, community members, and staff. To engage students in critical thinking and creativity using inquiry based learning, and offer structure by teaching the scientific method. To provide students with the knowledge/experience of daily scientific work and career.
Provide one monthly standards based science lessons to 100% of students in the school year. 80% of students in fourth and fifth grade will know the three fields of science, and two potential careers (Measured by a student survey).
What are the three fields of science? Give three examples of daily scientific work (a job or career a scientist might have). How many science experiments did you do last year?
