Syria As violence escalates in Syria, so too does the humanitarian crisis. As Syria's economic and social structures continue to destruct, refugees are a major concern for humanitarians addressing the consequences of the conflict. The United States has led in humanitarian response yet assistance barely begins to scratch the surface of needs. Throughout the region, governments are overwhelmed. Neighboring populations of Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan feel financial pressure to fund the camps and social pressure in accommodating refugee populations within their borders. Hunger, lack of physical shelters, medical needs and psychological damage are widespread concerns. As humanitarians continue to address the needs of refugees, we hope that the Syrians will soon be able to return to a stable life in Syria.

Label: October 8 in notebook The Bible is the written record of God’s Revelation.

The Bible Is the Inspired Word of God The Church teaches that: God is the author of the Bible, the Holy Spirit inspired the writers of the sacred books, and the Sacred Scriptures teach the Truth.

We need the Holy Spirit to enlighten our minds to understand and apply his holy word to our lives. The bible is not a religion textbook that we study from as if we were learning world history, geography, or languages. The Bible is a living book. For it to remain so, we must call on Christ, through the Holy Spirit, to open our minds to its Good News.

Inspiration What is your definition of inspirational? What is the most inspirational book you’ve ever read? Why? What kind of music inspires you? Why? Who is the most inspirational person you know? What qualities does this person possess? How would you like to be like this person? (JOURNAL ENTRY)

We are beautifully and wonderfully made. Each and every human life is a gift from God to be celebrated and protected.

"To have life and have it abundantly" Jn.10:10

The Gospel of life is at the heart of Jesus' message. "To have life and have it abundantly" Jn.10:10 To all the members of the Church, the people of life and for life, work to ensure that a new culture of human life will be affirmed, to build an authentic civilization of truth and love. -Bl. John Paul II Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life)

"To have life and have it abundantly" Jn.10:10 A precise and vigorous reaffirmation of the value of human life and its inviolability A pressing appeal addressed to each and every person in the name of God: Respect, protect, love and serve life, every human life! Only in this direction will you find justice, development, true freedom, peace and happiness"

"To have life and have it abundantly" Jn.10:10

Are we celebrating our Life?

"To have life and have it abundantly" Jn.10:10

Accept the responsibility for our brothers and sisters

"To have life and have it abundantly" Jn.10:10 A New Culture “We must build a new culture of life”

“A person’s a person, no matter how small.” - Dr. Seuss

Persons are infinitely valuable as well, despite their age, infirmity, guilt, or disability.

"To have life and have it abundantly" Jn.10:10 Respect Life Womb to tomb

Present-day Threats to Human Life "To have life and have it abundantly" Jn.10:10

We are impassioned, inspired, and energized by the love of Christ.

Fr. Damien was inspired by the love of Christ. When he looked at a leper, he saw a human being, not leprosity, infirmity, criminal history, handicap, old age, or infancy.
