Presentation transcript:

Angelina does it Zac does too... Paris does occasionally... Adam Sandler loves it.... Even NRL players have time to.....

In fact, over 5 million people in Australia do it.

Are you one of them? You may be and not know it!

Do you do good stuff?

Do you dedicate time umpiring, coaching or helping out with a sport?

Collect money for a charity? In the SRC? Help organise fundraisers? Work in a canteen? Perform or set up assemblies or year meetings? On a committee?

Help teach a community dance group? (hopefully better than this!)

Or maybe help out community animal groups?

If you do any of these things and more, you could qualify as a VOLUNTEER

If you are sitting there thinking.... O M G ! T h a t ’ s m e !

.....then we need you!

Why?

The Premier of NSW (but you knew that already didn’t you!)

And future employers will be equally impressed! Volunteering can gain you HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER skills that you can use in the workplace.... (like hairdressing!)

The Premier of NSW wants to acknowledge you for doing good stuff!

Join some of the finest students in NSW receiving a: bronze award (20 hours) silver award (40 hours) gold award (60 hours) or... diamond award (80 hours)

If you do good stuff for people, sports or youth clubs, community organisations or the school......

without being paid......

or forced....

You could get yourself a shiny, priceless, new certificate to add to your resume That’s SOOO exciting!

How?

You need to: Ask your school coordinator how the program works.... Do good stuff for an individual, group, charity or the school.... Record the time you have spent doing good stuff (every minute counts)....

Wait for your incredibly important certificate to arrive I was so excited to get my certificate my head fell off!

If you are not doing good stuff, it is not too late to start..... YOU MUST: Get parent / carer permission before you undertake volunteering

And take care while you’re volunteering follow instructions... but SPEAK UP if you think you’re being asked to do something that is unsafe!

Tag along with someone who already volunteers

OR Contact an organisation or club that you are interested in to see how you can help I want to do some good stuff

Come on, don’t be lazy!

Why volunteer? Gain new skills Learn about your community and the people in it Learn about possible career pathways Meet new people Feel good about yourself

...and feel the LOVE

Help the world smile!
