U1- L14 Complete on the same sheet of paper as the drill: Describe how you would begin drawing a floor plan that is 30’-0” left-to-right by 22’-0” front-to-back. Begin with squaring the paper down, and conclude with the drawing of both sides of the exterior walls. Identify the dimensions of the following floor plan components in this class: exterior walls, interior walls, exterior doors, interior doors, door jambs. Identify the line types and weights in the drawing below: QUIZ A BCD E

RULES 1.ALL LINES BEGIN AS LAYOUT LINES. Draw them as far across the paper as you’ll need them. 2.You should only erase layout lines if you’ve made a measuring mistake. Otherwise, the lines are light enough to not be seen. 3.PULL pencil, don’t PUSH 4.Keep pencil SHARP 5.Any others? U1- L14

STEPS 1.Square your paper 2.Draw Border (light) – 2’-0” from paper edges 3.Draw Title Block 1.2’-0” from bottom border (light) 2.Three 0’-6” lettering guidelines (light) 3.Vertical spacers (medium): 8’-0”, 14’-0”, 10’-0”, 6’-0” 4.Scale, Drawing Name, Your Name, Date, Period 4.Darken border lines (very heavy) 5.You’ve now got: 1.Drawing Space 2.Title Block U1- L14

STEPS 6.Find the center of drawing space (light) 7.Lay out extents of floor plan (light) 8.Lay out exterior walls (light) – 0’-6” 9.Lay out interior walls (light) – 0’-5” 10.Lay out doorways and windows (light) 1.Interior Doors = 2’-6” 2.Exterior Doors = 3’-0” 3.Jams = 0’-2” 11.Double-check all measurements 12.Darken all walls with object lines (heavy) 13.Complete fixtures and furniture (medium) U1- L14
