25 Oct 2005CMS Tracker Week - Bonding WG2 Salvatore Costa - Catania How bonding is going Our new (well, used, rented) Delvotec 6400 still bonds well We have renewed our leasing for 2006 to do the TEC prod At turn-on after summer vacation, found 2 electronics boards (Y, Z) dead  replaced by factory, no charge, 1 week downtime Modules bonded so far with this machine: 180 / 360 Some peculiar Module failures connected with Bonding: –Seen first module where gold layer on HV pad on back is peeling away. May drag away the bonds with it: Module declared faulty  Repair center –Since Sep we see many PA’s where bonds would not stick in one of these locations: 1-2, 27-30, , Seen also in Bari. Suspect bad PA metallization in those (symmetric!) spots DEAD channels (plagued us with Hughes): still zero so far Pull forces still satisfactory: PA TA ~10-11 g, PA-Sen ~12 g
