Scottish Waste Awareness Group Resources Available Sector-specific Resources Waste Aware Business example Development of Waste Aware University - for Universities & Colleges

Scottish Waste Awareness Group National Waste Plan targets for waste reduction & recycling. Initial focus on Municipal Solid Waste. SWAG - develop & deliver national campaign, Waste Aware Scotland. WAS campaigns delivered at local level to raise awareness of, and change public attitudes and behaviour towards Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. Campaigns matched to “actual” infrastructure. WAS campaign - consistency of approach, terminology and branding in waste awareness materials throughout Scotland.

Waste Aware Business Majority of businesses in Scotland are Small-Medium Enterprises FSB survey on waste disposal highlighted various key issues for SMEs including: Lack of awareness of local recycling facilities Scottish Executive proposed development of web-based facility by SWAG to provide information on recycling facilities available to business SWAG worked closely with businesses and waste management industry during development
