BACKGROUND

Now that there are a lot of cities in Metro Manila that ban the use of plastic bags, most of the grocery stores and supermarkets are beginning to use paper bags in packaging their sold items. Because of this, the speed of bagging slows down which also makes the queues in counters longer.

PURPOSE

The main purpose of the machine is to speed up the bagging process in counters. It also aims to bag grocery items properly, thus, eliminating damages.

APPLICATION

Mechatronics is applied in Bag It under Manufacturing.

TYPE OF ROBOT

Bag It can be classified as a SENSATE ROBOT as it only works if it senses grocery items in front of it waiting to be bagged.

DESCRIPTION

Bag It is a machine placed at the end of each counter. It automatically puts all groceries in designated paper bags while considering each item’s weight, height and classification.

FEATURES

Separates items based on type using its sensor Consistently weighs the items for each bag to ensure that it will not be torn or ripped if traveled

PROTOTYPE

DIMENSIONS (H x W x D) 2 x 1.5 x 0.5 ft.
