Responsibility for Contractor Training Operator has responsibility for ensuring contractor employees get site-specific hazard awareness training, but operators need not actually provide it. “One way… is to …include this [MSHA safety training requirements] as a provision of the contract. It may also be prudent…to…maintain evidence of independent contractor’s compliance… All other training (new miner, refresher, task, etc.) is contractor’s responsibility, but operators must “ensure” compliance.
