 Mercury was named for the swift Roman messenger god.  Mercury takes only 88 Earth-days to make one orbit around the Sun.  Mercury is a planet of extreme temperature.

 Venus is the second planet from the Sun.  Venus is the second hottest planet.  Venus also has no moons.

 Earth is the only planet that can support life.  Earth is mostly made of water.  Earth is the third planet closes to the Sun.

 Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun.  Mars is 141 million miles from the Sun.  Mars has 2 moons.

 Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun.  Jupiter is 483 million miles from the Sun.  Jupiter has 16 known moons.

 Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun.  Saturn has at least 18 moons.  Saturn is a gas giant like Jupiter.

 Uranus is 1 billion, 783 million miles from the Sun.  Uranus has 5 large moons and 10 small moons.  Uranus is a gas giant.

 Neptune is 2 billion, 794 million miles from the Sun.  Neptune has at least 8 moons.  Neptune has high winds and many storms.

 Pluto is a dwarf planet in the solar system.  Pluto has at least 8 moons.  Pluto is 3 billion, 666 million miles from the Sun.
