What is sales promotion and what forms are there? 5 marks Different ways of selling a product to the public, these can include: Money off vouchers when buying goods in a shop Competitions when you enter the store and buy goods Discount vouchers, money of your next purchase Free gifts when you buy certain goods, very popular with perfumes Better value offers, when trying to capture new customers

3. Purpose of Promoting a product 4 marks This will help the company to improve company image to attract more customers. Inform people about issues; often used by governments to sell health concerns. Increase sales of a product to raise profits for the company.

It will keep costs down but the advertiser needs a list of potential customers. It is important for a business to consider who their target customers will be prior to choosing this type of marketing to ensure that it is effective.

The advantage of selling the product to the customer through personal selling is that the value of the product can be communicated directly to the customer. On the other hand, many people don’t like feeling pressured and time can be wasted.
