Presentation transcript:

Integrated quotes This is not integrated Doaker supports his decision. “You gonna have a hard time trying to get Bearnice to tell that Piano” (19). This is: Doaker is skeptical; he believes that Boy Willie is in for a “hard time trying to get Bearnice to sell that piano” (19).

Integrated quotes continued Not integrated “Sutters brother selling the land. He say sell it to me. That why I come up here…Get Berniece to sell the piano and I have the third part” (23). Integrated From the beginning, Boy Willie’s intentions are clear. He is in town to sell the watermelons and “get Bernice to sell the Piano” so he can buy a farm (12).

Only one of these is right Doaker is clearly tired of Boy Willie. Rather than offer him breakfast, Doaker tells Boy Willie to go to “Eddies Restaurant. Coffee cost a nickel and you get two eggs.”(19) Doaker is clearly tired of Boy Willie. Rather than offer him breakfast, Doaker tells Boy Willie to go to “Eddies Restaurant. Coffee cost a nickel and you get two eggs.(19)” Doaker is clearly tired of Boy Willie. Rather than offer him breakfast, Doaker tells Boy Willie to go to “Eddies Restaurant. Coffee cost a nickel and you get two eggs”(19).

What is wrong? Doaker seems to have given up on the world he believes if everyone “would just stay in one place...it would be a better world.” (16) This is where the plays title comes, “The Piano lesson”. The lesson the piano will teach is that no one can stay in the same place, the plays characters must keep moving.

What is wrong? I think that, to me, personally, it seems that things are out of control. boY wilLie was really going to do things thatmade everyone mad. “I want to sell the piano” (The piano lesson, august wILSon Act 1 scene 1 page, 15, 2 nd pargraph). Their just wasn’t going to be justice for there piano. Boy willie was mean, to.

In Smoke Signals the story about Victor and Thomas is told by mixing the past and future to demonstrate how one’s past could affect who they are and how they act. In the movie Arnold Joseph, Victor’s father, was the man who started a fire on July 4 th after a celebration. Arnold was drunk and accidently started a fire killing his brother and his brother’s wife. This fire leads to them dying and his nephew, Thomas, thrown out the window in order for him to survive. This was what started the destruction of Victor’s father, and his family. Showing Victor’s past was something that helped show why he was so angry at the world and why he was so negative. His father was a drunken abusive father that left Victor to be the man of the family at a young age. Towards the after hearing what really happened at the fire which resulted in his father leaving, Victor became a new person and was finished with that chapter in his life. He was no longer angry at the fact that his father left him and destroyed the family. “Like cleaning out the attic, like throwing things away when they have no use.” Victor states. This quote represents the new chapter in Victor’s life. Showing the past and the future really helped represent and explain how it can affect ones attitude towards life and others.

If you do not double space, I will not read it. If you do not integrate your quotes you will receive an F. If you start any sentence with the ”The reason why….” it will be an automatic full letter grade deduction. Every time you do not capitalize a person’s name, or the title of a book or a play, it will be full letter grade off. I/C means incomplete sentence: Because the dog was sick. Even though she thought if she got rid of Arnold’s trailer. Run on: I went to the store I wanted some ice cream. C/S: I went to the store, I wanted some ice cream.
