My My House Plan My House Plan By Hannah Rundle

Rooms My door faces the north. One bedroom is on east and the other bedroom is on the west. My bathroom, laundry are the are in the middle but are closer to the south. My toilet room is on the north. My family room is on the north. My kitchen is on the south and my dining is on the west. My greenhouse is on the north. My bedrooms are against the Mass Walls to allow easy routing for the electricity. Some of my rooms are connected to the glass bottle wall to maintain temperature.

Windows All of my windows are big, all of my windows are double glazed, all of my windows face north, have awnings and they all have recycled bottles above them to look colourful and let in lots of light.

Water All of my water comes from the rain and is stored in a water tank. My water tank is on the south. Heated water is heated by one solar panel. Blackwater goes to the non- edible plants and greywater goes to the edible plants.

Electricity My house makes all of the electricity from two solar panels which are facing the west and one wind generator (I have three solar panels in total). My wind generator faces the west. I have skylights also the skylights are on the south and are big. My electricity is stored in a battery bank/electricity room which is on the west. I only use lights at night.

Heating And Cooling My heating is thermal mass also it is manual venting system. In summer I want it cold so I open up a hole in my greenhouse, I open up a vents near the water tanks and one in my house so the cool air from the water tanks can get in my house. In the winter when I want it warm I close the vents near the water tanks and close the hole in my green house then I open up a vent that is near the greenhouse, I open up a vent in the house to let all of the warm air in.

Insulation I have no insulation except for in the ceiling. Thermal mass. So I have lots of thermal mas. So big thick walls. Some of the insulation comes from the hill that I built my house in.

Building Materials My walls are made out of unwanted tyres with rammed earth. Part of my outside walls are a made of a hill. Some of my walls have recycled bottles in them for decoration.

Waste My house can reduce waste because it uses recycled bottles for decoration and light in its walls. Also it can because it uses old tyres covered with rammed earth for walls. So my house uses waste to make helpful things to help reduce the amount of waste to help the environment. I give my food scraps to the worms in the greenhouse. I put all of my plastics and other things that I can not reuse into the right bins. I try to recycle more. I use a bicycle more than I use a car. All the things that I buy are made.
