Bienvenue! Welcome! Parent Meeting French Travel Group Thursday March 25, :00pm – Old Gym Clavet School

Trip for 2011/2012 School Year… Paris and The Château

Expectations of Students… BEFORE THE TRIP: 1. Student remains in good standing in ALL classes 2. Student follows the “Clavet Way” AT ALL TIMES 3. Student remains enrolled in French (has to be in FR 20 or FR 30 the year the trip takes place and has to be passing the class) 4. Student attends all meetings, fills out required paperwork, and keeps school and parents informed of all changes and updates

What is the “Clavet Way”? 1. Respect Self The Clavet Way expects that students will: 2. Respect Others 3. Respect Property

Consequences for not meeting expectations… The school reserves the right to take away travel privileges prior to travel even if money has been paid to EF Tours IF the student engages in inappropriate behavior at school. For example, getting suspended.

Expectations of Students… DURING THE TRIP: 1. Student behaves as the would in school at ALL times (follow the “Clavet Way”) 2. Student participates in ALL tours. 3. Student understands that all school policies will be enforced for the duration of the trip. 4. Student understands that all decisions made by the teacher-in-charge are to be followed/respected 5. Students will be accompanied by a chaperone during ALL excursions.

Consequences for not meeting expectations: Depending on the severity of the misbehavior, consequences can range from handing over a cell phone to a chaperone, missing a tour by sitting on the bus and waiting, or (in severe cases, such as taking illicit drugs, drinking, or refusing to follow the group) being sent home by airplane at the parents’ expense. Parents will be notified of any disciplinary action taken on the trip.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?? Students MUST APPLY to be considered for travel with the group The completed application form MUST be returned to Clavet School no later than Wednesday, April 14, 2010 A selection committee (Mme. Brochu, M.Matisz, and M. Lundquist) will go through every application to determine eligibility (other teachers may be asked for progress / behavior reports.

Acceptance of an application will be based on… Student behavior at school (both in and out of class) Grades in present classes The completed application form PLEASE NOTE: Any parent who would like to indicate interest in becoming a chaperone for the trip must also fill out an application form and return it to Clavet School by April 14, 2010

But where are the application forms? The application forms are posted on the Clavet Composite School website: – Enter site – School info – Extra Curr & Events – Clubs – French Travel Club

Fundraising…? Any fundraising efforts will have to be parent-led. The school will not be hosting any fundraising events. The school will also not be handling any funds as EF Tours gets paid for the trip directly by YOU!
