Nervous Tissue

Properties of it A nervous cell can also be called a neuron. It is made up of the brain, spinal cord and nerves.

Job it does It takes change of running, walking, thinking, talking, feeling, sleeping, breathing and growing.

Types of cells present This is a typical Neuron with all the types of cells that are present. There are also three main types of Neurons. Unipolar which is a single process or fibre. Multipolar which have numerous cell processes. Bipolar which spindle-shaped and is found in the light-sensitive retina of the eye.

What’s so special about it? Nervous tissue is responsible for sensing and transmitting signals to and from different parts of an organism. Neurons are the basic unit of nervous tissue. The structure of a neuron is uniquely suited to its function within nervous tissue.

What is it part of It is part of the sensory orangs which is eyes, ears taste buds and Olfactory organ which is for smell. It is also part of the brain, nerves and spinal cord.

General information In humans, the right side of the brain controls the left hand side of the body while the left side of the brain controls the right side of the brain The brain weighs three pounds
