The Queen of The Dark Chamber How AFC came to be 3 founders + 1 burden =AFC The seed for AFC’s ministry was planted when Rev. Moses Chow and Mr. Ted Choy were introduced to each other at Christiana Tsai’s home in Paradise, PA. Both men shared a burden to see Chinese university students come to know Jesus Christ and make Him known to others. In 1963, the two leaders founded AFC to reach Chinese intellectuals for Christ. Today, God has multiplied their initial ministry, with 50 full-time, part-time staff, and associate staff members working with AFC all across the U.S. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Choy Rev. The Chinese people are largely unevangelized. Only an estimated 4-8% Chinese are Christians.

One out of every international student on U.S. campuses is Chinese.

AFC Campus Staff AFC Campus Ministry staff members serve as coaches, trainers, and mentors to Chinese students. They lead fellowship events, Bible studies, student leadership training, and provide one-on-one mentoring for students on U.S. campuses. They help Chinese students know Christ and make Him known.

Chinese Intellectuals AFC’s STRATEGY to reach Chinese intellectuals for Christ Campus Ministry Chinese Intellectuals Resources Literature Resources are a second piece of AFC’s strategy to reach Chinese intellectuals. AFC produces urgently-needed resources and distributes them to Chinese all over the world. There are four branches of AFC’s Literature Ministry: Mainland Chinese Literature, Publishing Ministry, Ambassadors Magazine and the AFC Bookstore.

Literature Resources AFC’s Literature Resources include quality evangelism and discipleship materials in simplified script, traditional script, and English – Such as Bibles, Bible studies, apologetics, marriage & family resources, biographies, music, videos, CDs, DVDs, and tracts.

Mainland Chinese Literature powerful tools that transform thousands of lives Outreach is an important element to our Literature Ministry. Since 1990, over 3 million pieces of literature in simplified script have been distributed from our headquarters to more than 30 countries, offered as a ministry at low- or below-cost. Many of these resources are used in outreach, including more than 900,000 copies of the monumental apologetics work, Song of a Wanderer. We estimate this book has greatly helped more than 150,000 Chinese come to Christ. 20

Chinese Intellectuals Conferences / Training AFC’s STRATEGY to reach Chinese intellectuals for Christ Campus Ministry Chinese Intellectuals Resources AFC reaches out to Chinese intellectuals through a third set of ministries -- Trainings and Conferences. The main focus is spiritual multiplication --equipping students, scholars, churches, professionals, and families to grow spiritually, develop ministry skills and learn to share their faith. AFC Trainings and Conferences build servant-leaders of influence in their homes, churches, communities and workplaces. Conferences / Training 21

Chinese Mission Convention Since 1983, AFC has sponsored a triennial Chinese Mission Convention, which equips and mobilizes individuals and churches as a vital missionary force. More than 2,000 people took part in Chinese Mission Convention 2007. Over 300 of those participants made commitments to service and are now being mentored to take their Next Step in ministry. 22

Love 4 Life Family Conference AFC’s annual Love 4 Life Family Conference equips families to inject Christ-like principles at home. Over 560 family members participated in Love 4 Love 2008 this past summer. 23

Discipleship & training workshops AFC also sponsors an annual Chinese Christian Faculty Network retreat for Chinese Christian professors, and throughout the year, offers Discipleship Training with Dr. Chuck Kwok and Expository Bible Teaching with Dr. Paul Shen in partnership with local churches. Additional Training and Conference events are forthcoming, including AFC’s Speakers’ Bureau, Bible Training Centre for Pastors and Church Leaders – portable theological training, Christian Counseling and Education Foundation modules on relationships, and a students and scholars Gospel Camp. 24

God has worked powerfully through AFC over the last 45 years. thousands of students and scholars have accepted Christ while in the U.S. thousands have returned to China and continue to practice their new faith many have entered seminary and now serve God But less than 10% of the Chinese students and scholars in the US are being reached. We will not always have this window of opportunity. Chinese communities in our colleges and universities are crying out for help. 25
