It’s all in the mind

Changing our mind The 6 Antitheses (contrasts) Reconsider what we “know” Jesus “raises the bar” Relationship – not rules and regulations Jesus provided the way back Saviour or Lord? Restoration & Transformation

3-stage approach You’ve heard it said But I tell you Here’s the result

Matthew 5: 27-32(TNIV) You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

Matthew 5: 27-32(TNIV) And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Matthew 5: 27-32(TNIV) It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’ But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

Caveats Not about Condemnation Criticism Condone Compromise “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23 (TNIV)

The Journey Belonging Believing Behavioural change

Sexual & Marital Issues Divorce and remarriage Absentee parents (fathers) Domestic violence Teenage pregnancy STIs

What the Bible says Marriage A sacred covenant A great mystery (Ephesians 5) Promote; protect; preserve “God hates divorce” Malachi 2:16 (TNIV)

What the Bible says Lust = adultery in the mind 3 Dangers Adultery Sexual immorality (fornication) Homosexuality

We all have a history and we all have a destiny What the Bible says We all have a history and we all have a destiny Balance grace and truth Unfaithfulness – destructive, distress, damage,

The Challenge 1. For those married Be a champion of marriage – promote it Don’t let anything come between you and your spouse Don’t be disparaging Respect one another

The Challenge 2. For those divorced Not unforgiveable Repentance brings forgiveness Attempt reconciliation wherever possible

The Challenge 3. For all of us Protection and accountability Be ruthless and radical But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for the Lord's people Ephesians 5:3 (TNIV)
