It is a systematic examination of all aspects of work that considers: What could cause injury or harm Whether the hazards could be eliminated and, if not, What preventive or protective measures are, or should be, in place to control the risks

Accommodation & Hospiality Services OPS TEAM 2 Staff meeting Risk Assessments Hazard Severity (a) Likelihood of Occurrence (b) 1 – Trivial (eg discomfort, slight bruising, self-help recovery) 2 – Minor (eg small cut, abrasion, basic first aid need) 3 – Moderate (eg strain, sprain, incapacitation > 3 days) 4 – Serious (eg fracture, hospitalisation >24 hrs, incapacitation >4 weeks) 5 – Fatal(single or multiple) 1 – Remote (almost never) 2 – Unlikely (occurs rarely) 3 – Possible (could occur, but uncommon) 4 – Likely (recurrent but not frequent) 5 – Very likely (occurs frequently) Rating Bands (a x b) LOW RISK (1 – 8) MEDIUM RISK (9 - 12) HIGH RISK ( ) Continue, but review periodically to ensure controls remain effective Continue, but implement additional reasonably practicable controls where possible and monitor regularly -STOP THE ACTIVITY- Identify new controls. Activity must not proceed until risks are reduced to a low or medium level

Accommodation & Hospiality Services OPS TEAM 2 Staff meeting Uni closes at 1pm on Christmas Eve The University will close early at 1pm on Wednesday 24 December 2014 for the Christmas break. Any staff who wish to take that day as annual leave will only need to take leave for the morning. If you are required by your department to work on that afternoon, you will be able to take equivalent time off in lieu at another time. The University will re-open on Friday 2 January 2015.
