Biomes Travel Battle Biomes of the World – Travel Brochure Research Project Mrs. Evans 6th Grade Science

Objective: Create a brochure for a biome Objective: Create a brochure for a biome. Research and identify environmental components such as the plants, animals, climate, and adaptations. Next Generation Science Standard (NGSS) – MS-LS2-1 Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy, and Dynamics You are a travel agent and you MUST attract visitors to your biome. You will need to use colorful pictures and graphics. You must include all of the features in your brochure and it must be presented in a poster or book form much like a REAL travel guide. You must follow the RUBRIC!

Rubric/Include the following parts… Animals – 15pts List three specific native animals that live there Discuss how each animal is adapted and how these adaptations help the animal to survive! Give one example of cooperation and competition between the species that live there Plants – 15 pts List three specific native species that live there Discuss how each plant is adapted and how these adaptations help it to survive. Warnings – 4 pts What are some threats to the biome? Endangered species? Cover – 3pts Advertise your biome’s recreational activities! Describe the landscape and features Biome Location – 3 pts Where is it? Show a MAP with labels! List abiotic factors Weather Report – 10 pts Average Precipitation Average Temperature Highs and Lows of precipitation and temperature Suggest supplies that tourists would need to make their trip fun and enjoyable!

ANALYSIS In this section, you will write a paragraph (5-8 sentences minimum) discussing how this biome is important to the world! Ideas: Is there a fear of climate change in this region? Are their threats to any of the areas from humans? Sources: List all internet cites that are used and cite sources Must have at least two sources
