What is the Problem? The food pantry is a general charity organization for food around the nation that is mainly part of our churches People on the streets need food for a few weeks so we bring in about a months worth of food in a week to support those people Some people that come in for food are not homeless but are struggling with monetary issues and need some food for the next few weeks until they get back on their feet Definition of a food pantry: a non profit charity organization that gives out mostly donated food to a wide variety of agencies that in turn feed the poor

How I Helped... While I was at the church I would unpack most of the food and then we would all organize the food into categories and then we would group them together and put them on the shelves and anything that wouldn't fit or we had enough of would go in a separate pantry for storage I help the local girl scouts on their scavenger hunt find the food they needed to pick up for the local shelters Helped unload and sometimes pick up some food for the pantry in a loading truck

What I learned... Not everybody is as fortunate as us and we should not take it for granite because one day all of our things could be gone and we would need the food pantry The food pantry gives out almost 2 years worth of food in 1-2 months The church never stops giving

Was the Activity Worthwhile? The activity was worthwhile and is something I would suggest for any one wanting to get their hours because it is a great working environment It's a big project that has probably been around for this kind of service in the church or at least in mine for years The idea of the food pantry has been around for practically centuries The way that we could resolve this problem is just to keep doing what we are doing
