The mission of the New England Comprehensive Center is to develop the capacity of state education agencies to assist districts and schools in improving outcomes for all students.

We work with states to: Increase their capacity to support districts and schools in implementing school reforms Adopt proven approaches to achieve school improvement and meet student performance goals Leverage the resources of other technical assistance providers Link states with the resources of the Content Centers and other national resource organizations

How we work: Consult with state education officials about their priority needs and develop service plans. Design and implement regional initiatives that address USED priorities, meet common needs, and build capacity through collaboration.

Assisted in the development of a guidance document on formative assessment Developed an annotated bibliography as a related resource Provided technical assistance on the evaluation of SES programs Participated in a statewide Parent Summit Connecticut Projects

Highly Mobile Students –Deepen understanding: who they are; patterns of mobility, causes and consequences –Identify best practices at district and school levels Low incidence ELL populations Current Connecticut Projects

The Challenge ELLs are moving out of urban districts Trend is likely to continue Low incidence districts are less likely to qualify for federal funding on their own Less likely to have adequate resources

Low Incidence Project Goals Identify the challenges faced by districts with small numbers of ELL students Develop resources that address these challenges and provide guidance on evidence-based and proven practices that meet student needs
