WELCOME TO Pike County High School’s LMC and Computer Lab

What’s Here!!!!!! Circulation Desk, Drop Book and Barcode Scanner. Atlas Stand and Dictionary Stand Periodical Stand Globes, Encyclopedias Three Online Card Catalog Computers Furniture-No book bags on tables or chairs.

PCHS LIBRARY Flexible Scheduling Your request to schedule your class at least one week in advance. Video requests need to be ed by Thursday for the next week’s availability. 2 or 3 students may come at one time from a class without scheduling. 5 Networked computers for student use on the Internet and Word Office 2000.

Overview of LMC English and Reading classes are scheduled every two weeks for circulation of books. All other classes are scheduled by teacher request. Books circulate for two weeks, overdue fines are.10 per day. Over 10,000 volumes are in the collection for research, reading, and reference. Books sets are available for classroom checkout. Accelerated Reader is used grades 7-12.

Equipment Located in each building is an audio-visual cabinet available for classroom use. It contains a large screen TV, VCR-DVD player and Avery Key for computer displays. VCRs, overhead projectors, video projectors, tape players, CD players and digital and video cameras are available for checkout by teachers. Videos, DVDs and CDs as well as computer software are circulated through the library.

Organization of Materials Non-fiction books are for reading and research. Biographies are available and many are AR. Reference books are for research in LMC. Career Resource Center covers many jobs and many are AR. In the Fiction section is where you will find the most AR books.

Features & Benefits Internet access is available on the computers in the LMC. Students are required to sign and return a current computer use and internet policy each year. Copies of articles can be made for $.10 from computer and $.10 from copier. A color printer is available for projects, $.25 per half page and $.50 per whole page.

Features and Benefits Periodicals are the most current print information available. Back issues are available for use in the LMC. Look in the periodical section.

Availability LMC hours are from 7:30 am. until 3:30 pm. when school is in session. Upon request, classes use the resources of the LMC. Individual students may use the facility with the permission of his/her teacher, two at the time. Agendas are the only passes to the LMC that will be accepted. You must sign-in.

Teacher Resources The teacher resources are located in the library work room. Available resources are: Three Ellisons with die cuts A poster maker, paper cutter, and laminator

Features of Our Computer Lab 30 networked computers, student work is to be saved on the X-Drive or a flash drive. One printer to be used only by teacher. Internet access Software for all subject areas plus AHSGE. Easy availability

Guidelines for Our Lab Teachers sign up for use with the LMS. Each student using a computer must have a signed Internet policy on file in the office. No individual student may use the lab without supervision. Each student must leave computers on the desktop display. You must save all information on the X- Drive under your folder or a flash drive, never on the computer’s C-drive.
