CORAL REEF BY MAGGIE BROWN 5 TH Grade

WHAT ARE CORAL REEFS???? Coral reefs are communities of living organisms. About 25% of marine life lives in the coral reefs. The ocean’s floor is covered in less than 0.1% of coral reefs. The coral reef’s ecosystem is the most diverse ecosystem in the world.

CORAL REEF ANIMALS 15 ANIMALS OF THE CORAL REEF ANIMALS: BLUE RING OCTOPUS ANGEL SHARK BLOWFISH CLOWNFISH RAYS SEA COWS/MANATEES PUFFERFISH PURPLE SEA URCHIN SEA TURTLES SEA HORSES BRITTLE STAR STAR FISH LOBSTER MAN-OF-WAR JOHN DORY JELLYFISH picture is found here picture is over here

CORAL TYPES T here are 2 types of coral: Hard coral Soft coral Hard coral has a limestone skeleton. Soft coral doesn’t build reefs.

CORAL TYPES (CONTINUED ) The water pollution is killing corals. Corals grow in warm, shallow, moving water, and clear, sunny areas. Coral grows near land in mostly tropical climates. The coral prefers the water to be between 70-85˚F. Coral reefs = Eastern coast on Africa and Southern coast Indian.

BACK FLASHBACK FLASH So, you learned that there is soft and hard coral. There are all different types of animals (like the Man- Of-War and John Dory). Coral prefers warm, shallow, clear, moving water. Also the coral likes it to be sunny. And more!!! I hope you enjoyed!!!!
